Russell Baker Dies: Pulitzer Prize-Winning Writer, Columnist & PBS Host Was 93
Celebrated author, humorist and The New York Times columnist Russell Baker died Jan. 21 in his home in Leesburg, Va. He was 93.

In addition to his celebrated and much-lauded newspaper columns, Baker hosted PBS’ Masterpiece Theatre beginning in 1993, succeeding Alistair Cooke, and stayed in the spot until 2004, becoming one of public television’s most familiar presences.

According to the New York Times, his son Allen Baker said that he died of complications from fall. Baker was born August 14, 1925 in Morrisonville, Va. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1947. From there, he went on to become a prominent writer. He is best known for his irreverent Times column titled “Observer” which leaned into politics as well as other facets of culture. The column also ran in hundreds of newspapers for 36 years. He received his first Pulitzer Prize for his column in 1979 and then received a second for his best-selling autobiography Growing Up

Kaye Ballard, Star of ‘The Mothers-in-Law,’ Dies at 93
Singer-comedienne Kaye Ballard, who starred alongside Eve Arden in the 1960s sitcom “The Mothers-in-Law” and was among the stars of the 1976 feature based on Terrence McNally’s farce “The Ritz,” died Monday in Rancho Mirage, Calif. She was 93.

She had recently attended a screening of a documentary about her life, “Kaye Ballard: The Show Goes On,” at the Palm Springs Film Festival, according to the Desert Sun, and became ill soon after.

Ballard’s career spanned stage and screen, and she was a star on Broadway when she was paired with Arden as neighbors whose kids get married on “The Mothers-in-Law,” which ran on NBC from 1967-69 and later in syndication.

On the show Ballard played Katherine “Kaye” Josephina Buell, the overly emotional wife of Roger Buell (played by Roger C. Carmel) and overprotective mother of Jerry Buell (Jerry Fogel). She was an unenthusiastic housewife, frequently spoke in Italian, and

Chris Brown is taking his own legal action.  On Tuesday, it was revealed that the star was being detained by police in Paris over accusations of aggravated rape and drug offenses. Later Tuesday, the star and two other individuals were released. After being hesitant to show kindness to the people in the village, Nicky finally bonds with the young boy of the Vietnamese woman. As a result, Nicky decides to take him fishing in the boat. Although, his method of fishing is a bit unconventional. Instead of using fishing poles, Nicky uses grenades to throw into the water so that all the dead fish will rise to the top.

"I've been trying to get some sleep because I'm on showbiz time," Gaga said. "I woke up around 8:30 and I didn't know anything about it." She eventually got in touch with her manager, who shared the good news, and Gaga "just burst into tears."

Not even the endless congratulatory texts could wake Gaga, who said she can sleep "through just about anything." However, she did cherish the messages she received, especially the ones from her family.

After the NBC drama's shocking midseason finale on Nov. 27, fans are well aware that the fate of Nicky Pearson is actually a lot more complicated than previously expected. Earlier in the series, Jack told Rebecca his younger brother had died in Vietnam. But it turns out Nicky is actually alive and living in Pennsylvania.

Michael Angarano plays the younger version of Nicky that fans are familiar with so far, but it appears Dunne will take the reins in the present day as the Big Three reunite with their uncle.
